CHANNELING MY INNER MARILYN MONROE.

hey guys! I was sitting around, listening to Modest Mouse, when I had the strange wave of sudden nostalgia for all things vintage. I know, totally weird right? Anyways, I was inspired, so I grabbed my various makeup things and set to work. I came up with a classic look inspired by Marilyn herself :) Obviously, I don't have the platinum blonde hair and huge lips to cater, but what do you think? I absolutely love the makeup in the 50's and 60's, especially the bold red lips. There is something so timeless and utterly classic about this look :)

P.S. Please ignore that annoying red dot on my face. I may or may not have ran into a car door.

TAYLOR SWIFT'S NEW MUSIC VIDEO!

hey guys! So, Taylor Swift made a music video for her song I Knew You Were Trouble. And lemme tell you, it is VERY different from everything else she has ever done. It has more....depth. I kinda like it :) It shows me she is capable of something more than the super upbeat good girl thing. Anyways, I can already tell that it is going to get a lot of hate....but I like it at least. Tell me what you think!

If you don't know what it is, its basically a fashion/beauty collage-ing site! You make your own crazy mash-up and then you can publish it for others to see :) Also, if you really like something you see, it shows you on the side where you can get everything! MONUMENTALLY AMAZING! haha, anyways, yeah, it' surprisingly fun, so I thought I would just share that with you guys. Below are the ones I've made so far.

A BLOG TUTORIAL: THE NO-MAKEUP MAKEUP LOOK.

hey guys! I'm sorry I haven't posted in forever :( Anyways, I'm making up for it right now, by giving you a quick tutorial on how to achieve the perfect no makeup makeup look. It is super quick and really easy to achieve.

1. SKIN
Since you are going for a really natural look, you don't need any heavy coverage. Applying a foundation base or a serum like the Lumene Instant Rejuvenating Serum will keep your skin radiant and moisturized. Then, with a tiny bit of liquid foundation, dab and blend at problem spots like under the eyes. Trust me, less is more. For my entire face, I used less than half of a pea sized amount.

2. FACE
If you want a very natural face, avoid blush. I applied a bit of Nars Laguna Bronzer to contour my cheeks and nose. This will give your face subtle definition. Again, less is more.

3. EYES
For really effortless eyes, you can simply apply a coat of mascara. But, if you do want to put a little more effort into this no make-up makeup look, you can opt for some shadow. I swept a nice champagne shade like the L'oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Iced Latte all over the lid and really blended it into a sheer wash. Then, taking a matte light brown like Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Naked, define your crease. Finally taking a matte skin tone shade like Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Foxy, highlight your brow bone. I would skip the eyeliner for this is a very natural look.
{left to right} covergirl lash perfection mascara, loreal infallible in iced latted, urban decay in Naked, Foxy

4. LIPS
For lips, you want to keep it very simple. I simply applied my Smith's Minted Rose Lip Balm, and I was ready to go.

5. FINISH
This step is optional, but for a nice dewy finish, I sprayed a finishing spray. I used La Roche Posay Thermal Water Spray, but another option is Mac Fix+.

There you go! This look is super easy and super quick, but still looks polished. Hope you enjoyed!

P.S. I have been OBSESSED with this song lately: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgSE3lAdYIE&feature=related

NICE ZOMBIES???: NEW TRAILER FOR WARM BODIES

hey guys :) I heard about this new movie coming out in February called Warm Bodies. It's about a zombie named R who wants to be human.....what I got from the trailer is that the world is affected with the zombie virus, but there are also even more zombie-ish things called bonies that are more evil. There are aso humans. ANYWAYS, back on track, this undead dude named R finds this girl {nothing like a classic girl-meets-zombie love story, haha} and he saves her. By loving her, he seems to be curing himself. The trailer seemed very interesting and it looks like a movie I would be interested to watch. What do y'all think? I'll put the trailer below:

P.S. Apparently it is also a book :) I'll be sure to read it and tell y'all what I think.

QUICK TARGET HAUL.

hey guys! I went to Target to pick up a few essentials :) This is what I got:

1. L'OREAL SULFATE-FREE FORTIFYING SHAMPOO
I needed a new shampoo, and this looked cool, so I decided to try it. {thumbs up for excellent logic ;) }
But, it says that it is supposed to strengthen your hair, which sounded nice, so I went ahead and bought it. Also, it smells amazing.

2. PANTENE AQUA LIGHT WEIGHTLESS NOURISHMENT CONDITIONER
I also was out of conditioner, and I have tried this before and like it, so I repurchased. I use a     crapload of conditioner in my hair each day so, I'm not really looking for a fancy one. This bottle is HUGE though, so hopefully it will last me a while.

3. CLEAN AND CLEAR ADVANTAGE 3 IN 1 EXFOLIATING CLEANSER
My face has not been nice to be lately, and I have multiple breakouts going on :( I noticed that this cleanser has 5% benzoyl peroxide {a.k.a. the acne assassin} so I decided to try it out and see if it worked.

4. ST. IVES BLEMISH CONTROL APRICOT SCRUB
I love this scrub soo much :) The exfoiliants are a little rough, so I only use it in my t-zone area, and only a few times a weeks, but this baby keeps my pores and blackheads away.

5. EOS FRAGRANCE FREE SHAVE CREAM
I love the mint eos lip balm, so when I saw this shaving cream, I was caved and got it :) The packaging is soo cute. Which is weird to say because it's shaving cream, but whatever.

6. RIMMEL LASH ACCELERATOR MASCARA
I don't even know why I got this...but I guess it will be a fun new mascara to try out. The packaging is pretty awesome, this picture looks like the words are literally zooming by :)

So yeah that was basically what I got at Target :) Not really incredibly riveting, but it is what it is, haha. Happy Friday!

FALL/WINTER MAKEUP TRENDS:

hey guys! Fall is my favorite season. The way the trees turn into beautiful shades of oxblood and burnt sienna while the weather turns crisp and cool is just so breathtaking. Along with the change of seasons, the fashion and beauty trends shift gears too. While summer was all about color pops of neon, and adventurous makeup trends, this fall, the trends have gone more classic, intense winged eyeliner, bold lips, and natural, flushed cheeks. I've taken my spin on it, and I hope y'all enjoy :)

1. BOLD BROWS
I know, I didn't really do a bold brow :) But, going just the little extra mile for a more defined brow is in this season, and I have been loving it. For my brows, I fill them in with an angled brush using my Revlon 16hr Eyeshadow Quad in Addictive. I love this because it literally works for every single brow color, so it works on others too :)

2. INTENSE WINGED EYELINER
This is by far one of my favorite trends this fall There is something so classic about this look that I absolutely love. For a really precise wing, I use my Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner in Nior. The applicator is super long, which makes it super easy to apply. Also, the line is VERY black :)

3. BOLD LIPS
This fall, bold lips are a huge hit. I think the key is to pick a shade that complements your skin tone, and doesn't wash you out. That's why, if available swatch a bold lip color before you buy it. For me, I prefer my statement lip colors in stains or longwear forms, because they are easier to apply, last a long time, and there is no fuss with lip liner or any of that jazz. The shade I'm wearing right now is I believe a Sally Hansen Satin Lip Crayon in Risque. My mother gave it to me a while back, and the shade is sharpened off, but I love it dearly :)

4. ROSY CHEEKS
A lesser, but still lovely trend is rosy, just-came-back-from-frolicking-in-the-snow cheeks :) I have been using this nearly everyday when I am not using my MAC Mineralized Blush in Warm Soul {life-changing}. For this particular trend, I recommend a gel, cream, or liquid blush, because these create the most natural, dewy finish. I love theBalm's Stainiac Cheek & Lip Stain in Beauty Queen, because its super easy to apply in a pinch, and gives a beautiful natural rosiness.

Well I hope you guys enjoyed my take on this seasons makeup trends :) bye!

TV LOVIN': WHAT SHOWS HAVE YOU BEEN LOVING LATELY?

hey guys! I feel like when school starts, all the good shows come back. Which is totally not cool because would you rather do your homework or watch your fav show? I mean come on! Anyways, yeah, all my favorite shows have come back and these are just some I've been OBBSESSED with lately.

1. REVENGE
what's better than a kickbutt girl with a taste for revenge? I love this show!

2. THE VAMPIRE DIARIES
*squeal* I started watching the vampire diaries in the summer from the beginning, and got hooked. Literally the best drama/supernatural show....ever. I'm so glad it's back!

3. ARROW
It's a new show on the CW about this dude who was a castaway on an island for five years and then comes back...with a vendetta. It's pretty cool, I enjoyed it, so I don't know. It's basically Batman ixed with Revenge. hehe :)

4. GLEE
I love the new season! Of course they had to have a hiatus only four episodes in :( I don't know about you, but I am all for Rachel and Brody as a couple.

5. NEW GIRL
This show cracks me up literally every episode. Gotta love quirky Jess!

These are some of the shows I've been watching, what about you? I know Pretty Little Liars is coming back tomorrow. I don't know, I just don't like that show anymore but, whateves :)

QUICK SWATCH: URBAN DECAY EYESHADOW IN SMOG

hey guys! I don't really have time for an extensive post.....but I decided to snap some quick photos of one of my favorite eyeshadows, UD's Smog. It's a gorgeous cool brown shimmer that look's absolutely amazing when doing a smoky eye on the outer edges of the eye or in the crease. Sorry for the terrible natural light, it's kind of late at night :)

A REVIEW: NYX BLUSH IN PINCHED

hey guys! So, it's Sunday, an I had some downtime FINALLY I decided I could finally get to post something! I might do this thing sometime later where it's like a "flash of the past" and I do a series of remodeled versions of posts I previously had.....but yeah that's probably gonna be later so.....today I'm doing a review of the Nyx Powder Blush in Pinched. For those of you who don't know about the brand, it's a brand that's sold at Ulta or online that has a lot of pretty inexpensive products that are great quality. One of their best products are their blushes, and I feel like they don't get enough credit in the beauty world. So here's me, giving some credit to one of my favorite blushes :

Nyx Powder Blush in Pinched is a beautiful bright coral pink with gold shimmer. It retails for $5.99 at Ulta, but there are plenty of sales where you could get this at a lot cheaper. The formula is quite pigmented, so a light application would be best at first. The powder itself can sometimes get a little gritty as you see in the picture below, but it hasn't been a problem in the application, which is a plus. The wear time is also long, about 4 hours before it starts to fade away. The color reminds me of the oh so famous Nars Orgasm Blush in because of it's gorgeous gold undertones.

Another thing that I love about this blush is that it is so wearable! Not only can the color be built up, it looks great on pretty much all skin tones. I actually first suggested this to one of my friends who is much paler than me, but then when I tried it on myself, the shade, though looking a bit different, looked AMAZING. I think this is really the perfect summery blush, but I find myself reaching for this sometimes though it's fall. This color is a great way to achieve bright, glowy cheeks no matter the season!
Pinched blended on left, heavy swatch on right {natural lighting}

I hope y'all enjoyed this review! Blog ya later! :)
